The Odd Couple
6 04 2008R bought Gnarls Barkley’s The Odd Couple for me today.
i love it. Like i love love it.
And yes. i love it so much i’d marry it:
christine, do you take The Odd Couple by Gnarls Barkley as your soulfully wedded theme music?
i totally do.
You may groove on this cd and love it and write by it and chill to it ’til death and/or destruction parts you.
Yup. i love it like that. Every single song is a unique creation, stirring up my insides. It has inspired ideas for at least three stories.
Run is fabulous, yes, but Neighbors, Blind Mary and Who’s Gonna Save My Soul… And my theme song, Open Book, the lyrics, sound and music of which stopped me cold, made me have to just sit and listen, and then listen one more time. And then again.
Did i mention i love this cd? i want everyone to love it with me.

C ~ I’ll definitely check out the new love of your life =) junemoon
If you do, i hope you won’t be disappointed.
It possesses a hip hop, dreamy, soul, shoegazer groovy 60’s but darkish sound.
i’m sure there is a more concise and astute way of putting it but i don’t know what it is.
i realize, or i theorize, that music is a deeply personal extension of one’s self
and should not be tampered with or belittled.
i like all kinds of music, even a little country- like Patsy Cline-nesque type of country.
Music has always been a huge part of my life.
i grew up listening to The Supremes, Earth Wind & Fire, Fleetwood Mac, Patsy Cline, Dean Martin, Marvin Gaye, The O’Jays, The Beatles…
My mom’s Saturday music, when she did the deep clean on our house, was the Lady Sings the Blues soundtrack, Al Green and Mahalia Jackson, but we listened to music everyday.
And in my home, we also listen to music everyday.
It is difficult for me to find stuff that inspires and moves me so when i do, i am overjoyed.
What do you listen to that you love-love?

Hi C ~ I am ignoring your comments and questions, just marinating on them. I checked out Barkley and agree, he’s great! junemoon
i’d hoped that!

okay, I left out the word (crucial in this comment) “not” before the word ignoring ~ “I am not ignoring your comments and questions…” =) junemoon
i’d hoped that, too.
Billie Holliday. Billie Holliday.
I love the Lady Sings The Blues CD– enough to date, but not enough to marry.
No, sir. I’m saving myself for the Hi I’m Johnny Cash album. Warps and all.
When the sisters & i took our road trip to the Bay Area, i visited Ameoba music and bought Randy a scratchy John Coltrane.
He loves records.
He dug Johnny Cash for a while, but prefers instrumentals.
i think Cash was a fine, fine poet.
